Maybe I wanted this place to be better. Or maybe I was hoping the food would live up to the décor. Or maybe it just wasn't all that. But as much as I wanted to like G Foley's, sadly we probably won't be going back. Other reviewers have commented enough on the food. Suffice it to say it was just 'ok'.

I took my wife to G. Foley's for her birthday recently and we were very impressed with the whole experience. The restaurant is well kept and visually appealing from the outside (one of the reasons I picked it) and well decorated and clean inside. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The menu had some great choices, the wife had twin lobster tails and I had prime rib and smoked gouda grits. Both were excellent. We've had trouble finding nice restaurants in Panama City but G Foley's hit it out of the park. One small complaint was that our second round of drinks was a coming from the bar a little slow so we canceled the order (had to make a movie time). Almost immediately a manager came to our table and apologized for the wait and offered us free drinks. That level of service is hard to come by now a days. We will be definitely be back to G. Foley's again!

First off, I want to say I use to love this place. The place is nice, there's live music outside on certain nights and the food was phenomenal. Well it use to be. I went there yesterday because I was craving for their spinach dip with bow tie pasta chips, chicken lollipops, and gumbo. When my boyfriend and I came in around 8, the place wasn't packed. Just a couple of groups and tables with couples. The service use to be on point. Last night it took them a good ten minutes before a server even acknowledged us. I use to work as a server, huge no-no. Minus one star for that. The also took the famous spinach dip off the menu! Gone, bye-bye. Why?!?!! I was so disappointed! we ended up getting the chicken lollipops and gumbo to start. The chicken lollipops use to come with a special BBQ type sauce and now it's served like regular wings on top of some skimp leaves, carrots, and celery sticks. No dipping sauce. I had to ask for some. Was disappointed in this also. Minus one star for changing the foods only to have it taste bad. My boyfriend ordered some kind of crab cake dinner and I got the ribeye. The steak was cooked good, medium just like how I like it. My boyfriend's food was absolutely disgusting. I took one bite and had to spit it out. Thankfully I was pleased with my steak choice. If it wasn't for the pretty place, my steak, gumbo, and live music at the time, I would've only gave 2 stars. Not sure if I want to go back after this last time. May be if I was craving their gumbo then yea... Other than that, no.

    G. Foley's is my go-to date night spot in Panama City. The live music under the enchanting oak would make anything taste good, though the menu holds up regardless. I've never gone wrong with anything on the wine list, and the Cedar Plank Burger is so good, you can't not finish it!

i was disappointed. a friend who lives in town took us there and i agree with other reviewers. the food was good but overpriced and the service was lacking. so we started the night with unpleasentness at the hostess station. we had reservations. when we got there, they told us it would be 45 min wait!? (i could walk in & wait 45 minutes! what's the point of reservations?) they found us seats at the bar and asked if we still wanted a table. YES! the bar has chairs that are way too low for bar hight but we ordered an appetizer anyway. we got the cheese selection. it was nice but overpriced. the menu says it comes with crackers & breads but they never brought us any. since this one came with piminto & mascarpone (?), the crackers were needed! we should not need to ask to get what we ordered! it turned out that we probably only waited about 20 minutes for our table. trying to get to our table was a feat. they have large chairs that do not provide enough room to pass. the food was good but like others stated, overpriced. and the service was lacking. after our salad, they took our silverware, great! but never brought the table more? i received a knife bc i ordered a steak but others that ordered chicken received no knife?! we waited, & waited, & waited for someone to appear with cutlery but they never came. i actually had to get up from my meal to find someone to get the cutlery. i should not need to do wait person's job! it was not a good dining experiance and i would caution you to lower your expectations if you go.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now because I heard it was a great restaurant from multiple people. We had an excellent dinner and the bar really knows how to make drinks. I will definitely be going back.

An amazing experience and a breath of fresh air for Panama City. While you have Firefly on the beach, G Foleys is located in town and will not disappoint. The Parmesan Risotto is to die for and the steaks melt in your mouth. Not to mention a great atmosphere and very friendly service. I will be back.

My husband and I recently had our anniversary and chose this place for our celebratory dinner. The atmosphere was great. Our waitress was nice and accommodating, although at one point she asked me why I didn't eat the crunchy onion garnish on my steak (they were basically onion straws and wayyyy too salty), which I though was a bit weird. It seemed kind of an odd question to ask, "Hey! Why didn't you eat that?" I ordered a house merlot on the recommendation of our server and was not disappointed, my husband ordered a local beer on draught. We both ordered the tenderloin, and here are the things that were wrong: it was sliced, and I don't understand why someone would ruin a perfect, tender, and delicious cut of meat by slicing it AND it was under seasoned. I've dealt with beef tenderloin before, and because it has little fat, it needs to be well seasoned. The saving-grace of the entree was the delicious mash. We ended our meal with a creme brûlée that didn't disappoint. At one point in the meal we were visited by who I think is the owner and that was a bit awkward because he said that we spoke to him earlier and we didn't. haha. Anyway, it wasn't a bad evening, but we did pay a lot of money for two under seasoned, cut-up, pieces of meat.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. We sat outside where it was lit with lights in the trees and a guy playing guitar. It's a romantic/casual place. I did not care for their house wine but the food was good. We do prefer Firefly for a more elegant dinner.

Fabulous food, great atmosphere! One of our favorite places to bring guests. Varied menu with a great bar. I've tried a number of different entrees and drinks, and loved every one.

Nice diner is to be had at firefly. Not here. Food and service is both lacking for the price and "quality" this establishment offers

The restaurant itself is very nice, the waiter we had was attentive and extremely personable which was great. The food was good but the portions were very very small to me and not worth the price. The tables were way to close together so we get very squished. All in all I probably wouldn't go back.

Amazing lunch and dinner place. It's hard to find an amazing place to eat on this side of the bridge. Foleys never disappoints. Each season the menu is updated with fresh new items. Every dessert on the menu is wonderful. I'm not s big seafood person at all but the cedar plank salmon is always amazing. The best steak this side of the bridge. The nightly soup selection are made fresh daily and always full of flavor. Lunch menu is mostly under $12 for choices making it a break from the normal lunch stop. The staff and owners are always friendly and willing to make sure your evening is perfection. It's one of my favorites in town.

We had no complaints about the food. My long island was heavy on rum but not a big deal. My only real complaint is the price. Food would have been a solid 4 by itself at a better price. Me and my wife can go to a resturante that is far more upscale on the other side of the bridge for 20 bucks cheaper and the food is better. But overall it was an enjoyable meal.

Went on valentines day. I made a reservation and still had to wait a little while. I didn't like where we were sat because I don't like to sit where we're right next to people on the left and right, and they're all up in your conversation because they're so close. It was a packed house so whatever. The plate on the table was dirty so I had to ask for another. The server was nice so complaints there. I didn't like that they were only serving their valentines special, I wish I wouldn't known beforehand because we weren't able to choose from the full menu but I assume they did it to expedite service on a busy night. I couldn't even finish the appetizer before they brought the entree. The choices were decent so it wasn't worth walking out and trying to get a table somewhere else on Valentine's day but for the price, I should be able to choose what I would like. The stuffed mushrooms were so-so. The lobster bisque was good and the lobster risotto was good. My wife enjoyed her filet but the chocolate cheesecake and cupcake were nothing special. We will not come back on Valentine's day that's for sure but I'd like to sit outside next time and listen to the band. Maybe then I would add a star but for now, no more than a 3 star.

This place serves the very best filet mignon in the area. The shrimp and cornbread appetizer is wonderful and the salad with strawberries in it is also delicious. Plus, the service is outstanding. A bit pricey, but it is worth it.

Wife and I experienced a wonderful dinner this evening at G Foley's. Food was expertly prepared, server was very attentive and the desert was so good there are no words to describe it. All of the staff was very cordial and the premises was clean and pleasant to the eye. Highly recommended for a great meal.

First off I will say I am basing this review on only the desert menu and what I saw inside. I went with a friend for desert only (decent desert is hard to find in this area). Besides parking being a bitch here only waited 5 mins for a table. We ordered all three of there deserts blueberry bread pudding, chreme brûlée , and cheesecake with bacon. Service was slow but our hostess was very nice and informative. Brûlée was awesome best I have had in town. Bread pudding was a letdown no sauce on it, blueberries were just added not enough sugar in the pudding tasted really bland (but when mixed with brûlée was decent) I have made better real bread pudding at home. Last the cheesecake which was garnished with bacon and Carmel sauce. The flavors were very good but cheesecake tasted store bought very thin sugar cookie bottom crust. Being from up north I base this on Juniors the best cheesecake out there and sorry not even close. Odd thing they Didnt have a chocolate desert which is very odd. Seeing other customers plates and the costs of them on the menu take an extra 15mins and go to FireFly if you want a truly epic dinner. For the price of there food based on desert I would rather go to FireFly where I have never had a bad meal. Sorry Foley but I liked the Italian place more that you replaced.....

I am not over embellishing when I say this place is far and above the best food experience I have had for such a reasonable price. They have done an amazing job creating a casual-upscale atmosphere that is unmatched in Panama City. The everyday menu has classic steak-chicken-seafood fare where every dish sounds extremely appealing. I have had the pork tenderloin with gnocchi and a classic sirloin steak in my visits and have been blown away by both. Not only are they cooked to perfection, but the flavors are anything but forgettable. On top of the unchanging selections, the chef has specials that are more creative than I have seen outside of truly fine and expensive dining. I had an appetizer special that consisted of risotto with bacon, brie, grapes, and a deliciously tangy sauce. It came out plated and tasting absolutely spectacular! All in all, I highly recommend this establishment for good drink, good food, and good times with friends or family!

We accidentally ended up dining at G Foley's. We were actually planning on going to Angelina's, which used to be in this location, and is now closed. But when life hands you lemons... It was a Sunday morning, so they were serving their brunch menu. I thought the variety of options on the menu was good! They had the traditional breakfast favorites like pancakes, omelets, and sides. They also had a custom corned beef hash section. Never seen that at a restaurant before, so points for originality. They also had some more "lunchy" fare, including a burger topped with goat cheese and a fried egg! It was SO GOOD! My wife ordered the same thing, and felt like her burger was overcooked a bit. Our only real complaint - the burger's came with fries. But not ketchup. Ugh. We actually had four people at our table that all needed ketchup... which had to be hand-dipped in the back, and brought to the table. The server admitted that the brunch menu was very new, so I think they were a little caught off guard by the number of requests for ketchup. My suggestion would be to either use Heinz bottles (no one cares about ketchup being in a bottle), or go ahead and include the ketchup on the plate whenever fries are ordered. Overall, enjoyed the meal. Prices were really decent for brunch.

This was our first time to G. Foley's and had heard great things about it. Always have to start with the Caesar salad and it was, uhhh, disappointing. The dressing was creamy and bland. I got one taste that had a lot of dressing on it and I swear it tasted like Ranch. We added salt, we added pepper, there was no saving this salad. The croutons were store bought but OK. The lettuce was good. The parmesan was shaved into strips so that it looked good but I was hard-pressed to get some in every bite. No noticeable anchovies. No weird stuff like tomatoes (my personal least favorite thing to see in a Caesar salad). I ate half hoping it would get better but it did not. The waitress thankfully took the rest away. The good news is that the rest of the meal was MUCH better. They were nice enough to replace our salads with another starter and my wife had the lobster bisque. It was very tasty. For dinner I had a ribeye and my wife had a sirloin. They were cooked perfectly including a proper "rare" for my wife's. This is hard to come by in Panama City. All the steak sauces come on the side and it is a good thing because they brought the wrong one with my steak. The Foley sauce is a tasty, savory sauce that has strong hints of horseradish. The Chipotle sauce that I got by mistake was smoky and had the consistency of a french dip sauce. I didn't like it very much (no surprise, I didn't order it and I generally don't like Chipotle sauce) so I stuck to the Foley sauce. All that said about the sauces, the steaks didn't NEED them. They were lightly seasoned and that let the flavor of the meat come through. The sides were very good (baked potato for me and Gouda cheese grits for my wife) and the dessert was fantastic (New York cheesecake with chocolate covered strawberries). The atmosphere is upscale. There is no hint of the Angelina's that it replaced. Thanks G. Foley's! We'll be back. And I'll be having the soup.

Fabulous dinner!! Great ambience and excellent food. Had the fried lobster, fresh grouper and rack of lamb. The sauces were inventive and delicious. The grouper and lamb cooked perfectly. Wish this restaurant was in our home town. We'd be regulars. Well worth coming from our beach hotel into town to enjoy a romantic dinner.

WOW. All I can say. My wife and I enjoyed the 2 can dine for $40 special. What a wonderful meal. We chose the spinach dip with fried bowtie pasta as the starter, The pasta was crispy yet still moist, for the next course, I chose the wedge salad while my wife took the baked potato soap. Both we simple and delicious. The bread is fresh made and had butter pairings. Rye with honey balsamic, rosemary garlic bread with a sea salt butter. a sour dough was paired with a simple garlic. For dinner we enjoyed the thick cut steak, and I had the chicken Foley. the steak was perfect med, the chicken was topped with fresh spinach bacon and cheese and sat atop nicely roasted rosemary potatoes. The service was great, friendly and efficient without being pushy as to rush us. The owner stopped by to make sure all was well. We will definitely go back.

The food, wine and dessert (cheese cake) was delicious. Live music on the patio. Our server Gavin was great too. We won't go every weekend because it's kind of pricey but every once in a while we will go there and splurge

G Foley's - an experiment in bringing a touch of class to an area completely devoid of it. I tip my hat to this new restaurant for making the attempt, it shows real promise, but they still have a few things they need to work out (as I will describe here). The building itself has been touched up quite a bit for an upscale feel, yet it basks in the glow of street lighting from other nearby businesses - namely the Winn Dixie across the street. The restaurant offered a valet service, which I believe was an entirely superfluous feature to a property that already had adequate public parking. It felt like a gimmick aimed at making the restaurant appear fancier than it really was (but don't take the criticism too harshly, again I applaud G Foley's for trying). The interior decor was modern and comfortable. So, how was the food? Very tasty - though I would be very reluctant to call it a fine-dining experience by any means. The food was reminiscent of a backyard cookout that had been dressed up for white tablecloth dining. We ordered the Chicken Lollipops, a Sirloin steak entrée (with truffle fries and baked potato soup), and a NY Strip entrée with mashed potatoes and baked potato soup). The steaks were cooked to perfection. I very much doubt that the various sauces were truly created from scratch - more like store-bought barbeque sauces, steak sauces, and condiments that were blended together for their creations (the strawberry BBQ sauce that accompanies the Chicken Lollipops, and the Foley's Steak Sauce, for example). The Baked Potato Soup was also good, but again I still have the same critique - I don't think that it was truly made from scratch (I believe some components probably came out of a can). The mashed potatoes were very garlicky (which suited me just fine, but may be too much for others). Don't get me wrong though, the food was good - I just know they could probably do even better if they so desired. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was accommodating, prompt, friendly, professional, and accurate. She was right there when we needed her services and not intrusive when we were enjoying our meal. The pricing for the menu items seemed about right. An appetizer, two glasses of wine, and two entrées ran us about $70. Reasonable for a steak dinner. All in all, I applaud G Foley's for their efforts. Panama City is in dire need of a place like this. By ditching the valet parking gimmick, adding curtains to block out the unsightly Winn Dixie signage, and improving the quality of their sauces this restaurant could easily become the hottest spot in town.

We just moved here and asked our neighbor where we could go for dinner and she sent us here. We have a 19 month old daughter, so as soon as we walked in. we realized this was an upscale place and I was uncomfortable with her there. No one made us feel bad, but I hate being the loud family that interrupts a romantic dinner for a couple a few tables over. The menu had some creative items, the staff was attentive, but my fiance's steak was almost well done, not Medium Rare, so that kind of ruined it. Having your steak re-cooked while you eat the side items is never a good experience. He ended up just getting his steak to go. I had the salmon, and it was good. We will try this place again, when we have a sitter:) and hopefully we have a better luck with whatever we order. Seems to be a great place.
